Here are some isolated multitracks of Money for nothing by Dire straights, which has to be one of the most iconic songs of the 80′s. It was a hit single from Dire Straights 1985 album “Brothers in Arms” and was one of their most successful singles and peaked at number one in the US for 3 weeks. The distinct guitar sound was recorded with a Gibson Les Paul 58 through a Laney Amplifier. Mark Knopfler also uses a wah-wah pedal set to a certain position. The extra colour was then added by the random placement of two Shure SM57 microphones, there was no additional mixing or alteration of the sound. This guitar sound is actually a replica of ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons signature sound.
You won’t put your guitar down after hearing these isolated master tracks of what is one of the catchiest guitar riffs of all time!
